这时，一个东方面孔的年轻男人站出来说话了。

“The owner of the Hudson Pavilion， since the pipe is not worth the money， maybe it's just a hoax for the thieves. It's better for us to solve the problem ourselves before the police e. If we can't find the pipe， everyone will be asked by the police. I don't think it's a good experience.（赫德森馆主，既然烟斗并不值钱，或许这只是盗窃者的一个恶作剧呢，不如在警察来之前，我们自己解决了这个问题，如果找不到烟斗，大家都会接受警察的询问，我想这不是一个好的体验。）”

“How can we solve this problem ourselves? Besides， I don't know if other people approve of your proposal.（我们自己怎么解决这个问题？而且，我不知道其他人是否赞成你的提议。）”

年轻男子环视一圈众人，目光在顾宋两人身上停留了一下，随即又错开，他问，“Do you agree to my proposal?（各位同意我的提议吗？）”

“I agree. I don't want to accept the police inquiries. It's embarrassing.（我同意，我不想接受警察的询问，这太丢人了。）”

“I agree.（我也同意。）”

陆陆续续的大家都同意这个男子的提议。

男子微微一笑，望着眼前这将近20个左右的人又说道：“The people who are here today， I believe， are all Sherlock Holmes fans. It's just a small pipe theft. So I would like to ask you to take part in the reasoning process and find out who the theft is. Are you willing to challenge?If I do not find the thief at last， I will pay for the loss of the pipe.（今天来这里的人，我相信都是福尔摩斯迷，这只是一个小小的烟斗失窃案，那么我想请各位参与推理破案，找出这个盗窃者，大家愿意挑战吗？如果最后没有找到盗窃者，由我来赔偿烟斗的损失。）”

这个年轻男子提出的挑战，顿时提起了各位福尔摩斯迷的兴趣，大家纷纷愿意尝试推理找出盗窃者，也有几个人表示如果最后找不到烟斗，他们也愿意参与赔偿损失。

宋七梧和顾星乔饶有兴致的抱臂看着这一幕，觉得这个东方男子有点意思。

有的自认为没有能力参与推理的，被侍者带到后面的卧室等待，宋七梧和顾星乔刚想走，被侍者留下了，“I think the two of you can help.（我想你们二位能帮上忙！）”

于是书房只有馆主，一名侍者，东方男子，顾星乔宋七梧和五名愿意参与推理的参观人员。

一名打扮有些类似福尔摩斯形象的英国男人先开口，他问侍者：“Who first discovered the theft of a pipe?（是谁第一个发现了烟斗失窃？）”
